TAUNTON INNER RELIEF ROAD (24/10/02)
Somerset County Council has revealed that preparatory work will commence for the design stage of the Taunton Inner Relief Road.Site investigation work within the car parks at Tangier and Wood Street will start in the week commencing October 28th, and is likely to take two or three weeks to complete.
Conservative spokesman for Transport, Denis Underhill, commented, “Conservatives welcome a start to resolve Taunton’s strategic traffic problems.
“Hopefully this scheme has been well thought through in terms of its traffic management arrangements during construction.A repeat of the Priory Bridge fiasco is to be avoided.
“Also the County Council must ensure that sufficient resources are deployed for the proper and efficient management of the whole project completed on time and within budget.”
